Prayer for the Second Annual World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly
GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY
I give thanks to you, Lord,
For the blessing of a long life
For, to those who take refuge in You,
Grant always to bear fruit.
Forgive, O Lord,
Resignation and disillusionment,
But forsake me not
When my strength declines.
Teach me to look with hope
To the future you give me,
To the mission you entrust to me
And to sing your praises without end.
Make me a tender craftsman
Of Your revolution,
To guard with love my grandchildren
And all the little ones who seek shelter in You.
Protect, O Lord, Pope Francis
And grant Thy Church
To deliver the world from loneliness.
Direct our steps in the way of peace.
Amen.

Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

United for Life
From the Diocese of St. Petersburg:
As our nation awaits the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, we join together in prayer and expectant hope that states will again be able to protect women and children from the injustice of abortion. As we affirm the value of every human life, we welcome the possibility of saving countless unborn children as well as sparing women and families the pain of abortion. The Catholic Church has a long history of service to those who are most vulnerable and remains the largest private provider of social services in the United States. Through the sacrificial efforts of faithful Catholics, the Church serves millions through diocesan ministries and agencies, Catholic hospitals and healthcare systems, immigration clinics, shelters, and Catholic schools and parishes. The Catholic Church is also a leader in advocating and praying for an end to the injustice of Roe v. Wade that left a whole class of human beings, the preborn, outside the protection of the law. Here are some helpful resources for Courageously Living the Gospel of life so that all human life is protected in law and welcomed in love.
