Purpose: For over a decade volunteers from St. Lawrence have been working with Meals on Wheels Tampa to support our senior neighbors to live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes. Meals On Wheels of Tampa is a 4-star charity and relies on its community for support by not accepting government funding.
Activities: Volunteers of Meals On Wheels deliver a hot lunch to over 800 people daily.
Eligibility To Be Served: The services of Meals On Wheels of Tampa are available to any resident in the Tampa area who is a senior or who has difficulty leaving their homes and is challenged to prepare meals. Many recipients live alone and are handicapped, malnourished, elderly, or otherwise unable to prepare food for themselves. People of ALL incomes and ages may be eligible for meals. Follow this link https://mowtampa.org/meal-service/ or call (813) 238-8410.
Volunteer Time Commitment: One hour on Friday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am in the Forest Hills area, subject to your availability. Other St. Lawrence parishioners are regularly covering other routes and welcome involvement from parishioners for these as well.
Volunteer Requirements: An application and background check must be completed, along with a one-hour, in-person or via Zoom training session.
