Purpose: Accepting the role of an altar server is an honor and privilege that allows young Catholics to assist the priest during Mass. Altar servers are considered to be serving Jesus Christ, the High Priest, in the reverent celebration of the Mass and other liturgical celebrations.

Activities: Altar servers support the reverent celebration of the Mass. They lead processions by carrying the processing crucifix, hold the Roman missal for prayers, and assist in preparing and clearing the altar before and after Holy Communion and Mass.

Time Commitment: Approximately two weekend Masses per month, or more frequently if desired. Altar servers normally meet at least twice a year for training.

Requirements: Children going into the third grade or above who have received First Holy Communion and completed formal altar server training are eligible to serve.
